ADVICE FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS AND OUR PLANS FOR THE (PLANT-BASED) FUTURE

Lessons learned, future goals and words of wisdom - this blog post is a round-up of some of the things Chris, our Co-Founder & Head of Business Development, has shared on LinkedIn in the past weeks. We’ll share snippets of three interesting and inspiring posts by Chris but we recommend following the links to read them in their entirety!

1. Lessons learned

In this post from a few weeks back, Chris shares some of the main lessons he learnt during our first year of trading.  If you’re thinking about becoming an entrepreneur or you’re already living that start-up life, definitely give the full post a read! To quote Chris:

• Celebrate the small wins 🙏 [...]  It's the fuel to keep pushing on.
• Don't be defeated by a 'no' 💪 - I receive approx. 5 times more rejections than approvals. But it is only really a failure if a lesson isn't learnt from it.
• Look after yourself and your team 🤗 - everyone works hard so to challenge the status quo you need to work smart and moments of inspiration rarely happen in the (home) office.

2. Future goals

In another post, Chris gazed into the future and talked about some of the things we want to achieve as a company. Below is a snippet of Chris’ post that shares some of our dreams and goals :)

“One of our goals is to make delicious and nutritious plant-based eating as accessible as possible and to (soon!) reach price-parity with animal-based options. We want absolutely everyone to enjoy the benefits of plant-based foods - not just the elite few that can afford it! 💰

We know we have a long way to go but we’re working as hard as we can. As a first (baby) step, we’ve managed to permanently reduce the cost of our Better Bites and Organic Tempeh by 13% and 9% respectively! We're also going to be launching a brand new range of products soon that reflects our mission in the best light - to make protein without compromise and to bring all-natural plant-based foods that are heavy in quality and taste but light on the wallet to the masses 🙌”

3. Words of wisdom

Some time ago, Chris did an Insta Live with one of our investors Michiel Van Deursen who is the founder of Capital V and a Co-Founder of THE PACK. In addition to Better Nature, Michiel has also invested in many other plant-based businesses such as THIS, Impossible, Heura and The Vegetarian Butcher. Quite the portfolio!

The whole Insta Live is definitely worth a listen but before you hop on to Instagram, here are some nuggets of wisdom from Michiel that Chris shared in his LinkedIn post:

• Never lose FOCUS.
• The TEAM comes first.
• SHARING is (self-)CARING.
