Smoked TLT (Tempeh Lettuce Tomato) Sandwich

It's hard to beat a good sarnie, and this one definitely hits the spot. This plant-based TLT is made with our naturally nutritious Smoky Tempeh Rashers so you'll get plenty of protein to keep you going. What's more, it takes less than 30 minutes to prepare this scrummy sarnie.

ingredients

  • 3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil or oil of your choice
  • 1 pack (180g) Smoky Tempeh Rashers
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 3 tablespoons vegan mayo
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ clove of crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 gem lettuce sliced into leaves
  • Optional: ½ finely chopped avocado
  • Optional: 2 finely chopped spring onions

instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the Tempeh Rashers and cook for 5 minutes on either side until browned.
  3. Lightly toast the bread to your liking.
  4. Mix the vegan mayo, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, garlic and lemon juice together in a bowl until they form a consistent mixture.
  5. Place the lettuce and tomato on two of the slices of bread.
  6. Add the Tempeh Rashers on top, followed by the mayo, then avocado and spring onions if you’re including these.
  7. Pop the other slice of bread on top and serve up.
